Agentic commerce has now entered the operator's field of concern, like a courier delivering a parcel nobody ordered and everybody must now sign for, where it joins such long-standing irritants as attribution windows, inventory forecasting, and the enduring mystery of why every platform update arrives with a deadline and no documentation.

The preparation was extensive, conducted with the grim thoroughness of a family boarding up windows for a hurricane that later filed a change of address. Feeds were audited. Schema was scrubbed. Product titles were rewritten for an audience with no eyes. The phrase "agent-ready" entered your quarterly planning document as unchallenged as a man in a hi-vis vest walking through a building site, because nobody wished to be the person who asked what it meant in front of the CFO.

Then the thing arrived, and conducted itself rather like a much-anticipated houseguest who eats nothing, says little, and leaves before dinner.

OpenAI shipped Instant Checkout, wired it to Stripe, and aimed it at seven hundred million weekly users. Purchases completed inside the chat converted three times worse than purchases handed off to the merchant's own site. Roughly thirty Shopify merchants made it onto the platform, a number small enough to invite to a wedding and seat comfortably at one table. By March, in-app checkout was deprecated and retired with the brisk efficiency of a product nobody intends to raise at the next all-hands.

The useful conclusion is not that the agents failed. Reading it that way is like concluding the bridge is structurally sound because the truck turned back.

The agents work. Customers are cheerfully outsourcing the research, the comparison, the review-reading, the spec argument, the shortlist, and the 11pm browsing session previously conducted alone in a partially opened robe and questionably clean underwear.

What they will not outsource is the final click, which they perform themselves, on your site, with the solemnity of a man signing for a parcel he suspects he ordered while drunk.

Your storefront was not disintermediated. It was demoted, in the manner of a long-serving doorman reassigned to the service entrance, to the last four seconds of a transaction it no longer influences.

Here is the week.

I Wasted $350,000 Failing. Here's How I Launch Products Now.

A great many people spent this past fortnight discussing new EU AI labeling rules with the sort of alarm normally reserved for tax audits and unexplained fees. Which is, on inspection, largely unwarranted.

The regulation is narrower than the panic suggests, and mostly concerned with one unglamorous question: at what point does an edited draft stop counting as human work.

  • What actually triggers a legal disclosure requirement, and what quietly slips past it entirely

  • Why the Commission's own guidance draws a sharper line between "fine-tuning a sentence" and "generating one" than most brand teams currently operate under

  • Why the sparkle icon, ubiquitous across roughly every AI feature shipped this year, does not meet the bar for a compliant label

  • Where this sits alongside similar rules already live in China, California, South Korea, and India, in case anyone still believed this was an EU-only inconvenience

Not dazzling. Potentially very expensive to get wrong.

In partnership with Agentway

Most orders follow the normal path.

The work is catching the few that don’t.

An inventory mismatch. A suspicious address. A split shipment. An invoice that does not reconcile. These exceptions are easy to miss when someone is reviewing everything manually.

Agentway connects the systems involved, automates routine cases, and escalates genuine exceptions with the relevant context. Sensitive decisions remain human-approved. Every automated action is logged, so you can audit the work at any time.

The result: your team only reviews the orders worth reviewing.

For the W6 Group Buy, every member who completes the form receives one complimentary, production-ready AI workflow build valued at up to $10,000.

Connect your existing systems. Live in less than a week. 60 days of post-launch monitoring and tuning included.

Complete the Group Buy form and Agentway will build you a complimentary, production-ready AI workflow valued at up to $10,000, plus 60 days of monitoring and tuning.

I was catching up with the Finaloop team and we asked their MCP (that has aggregated thousands of merchants data anonomously) a simple question:

Stat Attack

That is the week. Your storefront kept the job and lost the jurisdiction, like a monarch retained for ceremonial purposes and photographs.

Read your product feed the way a machine would. It is now the only audience whose opinion arrives before the sale.
